Research shows that entrepreneurship is essential. It drives innovation, creates opportunity, and promotes social change.
It is powerful tool for breaking cyclical poverty and creating economic independence, especially for women and people of color.
Closing the gap in average revenues between women- and men-owned businesses has the potential of generating $7.9 trillion in additional revenue to the nation’s economy.
Women in business…
...enhance profitability
...strengthen + diversify supply chains
...bring different skills into the economic landscape than male counterparts
...excel in employee engagement and leadership skills
...prioritize community involvement and social responsibility
...build and maintain better client relationships
Many women have trouble finding mentors and support for their business endeavors.
Female business owners struggle with:
- Family resources, including cash for investments
- Capital access
- Business training and information geared toward their needs
- Supportive social connections
- Rich and varied business networks
- Self-worth and imposter syndrome
This is most especially common women of color and disabled women, but all women face these barriers. Research supports these as the main reasons women-owned businesses fail within the first five years.
Many women have trouble finding mentors and support for their business endeavors. Women of color are especially challenged in this way.
Entrepreneurship takes the safety of the known employment situation and removes that in favor of a greater vision. It is brave, and it takes tenacity, faith, intelligence, and diligence to be successful. It also takes connection, education, opportunity, and support.
Why sponsor?
Our sponsors keep our regular meetings free and accessible to all, regarless of business stage.
They provide funds for space for regular meetings, special events, and workshops, as well as our tech tools and membership coordination.

A word about entrepreneurship
Entrepreneurship is linked to anxiety, depression, and isolation, even as it is linked with positives such as autonomy and satisfaction.
Recent research indicates that female entrepreneurs are more likely to experience mental health challenges compared to their male counterparts.
The unique stressors entrepreneurship creates requires on-demand support. A diverse network of relationships is required to navigate these ever-changing needs.
